Rupert Higgin

Rupert Higgin

Managing Director

Rupert became Managing Director of TGE Group in May 2010 and has the additional responsibilities for finance and purchasing. Since then the business has grown its turnover from £500k to over £18m and now offers a wide range of renewable energy technologies covering installation, monitoring, maintenance, training and distribution for the commercial, public and residential sectors.

Rupert has a strong pedigree of building successful companies in the competitive event hire industry. Previously he was the Managing Director of Johnson Hospitality Services, the largest event hire company in the UK, having sold his own companies to Johnson Service Group. Rupert is a non-executive director of RS Clare, one of the country’s oldest manufacturing companies and winner of The Queens Award for Enterprise, and Wilson & Scott, a leading road marking contractor and winner of the Surrey Chamber of Commerce Business Award. Before entering this sector Rupert built his own house, which is powered by renewable energy. He has a Management Science degree from UMIST.

Stephen Davies

Stephen Davies

Sales Director

Stephen co-founded TGE Group (then known as The Green Electrician) in 2007 and is now the Sales Director of the Group. In this role, Stephen has responsibility for all business development and sales activity across the Group and for our in-house design department that is so intrinsically linked to the sales process. Over the last 3 years Stephen has built up and galvanised his team of salesmen and agents to increase sales by a factor of 90.

With 10 years of leadership and engineering experience in the Army and a further decade in the marine industry, Stephen is a fully trained electrician and solar PV installer.

He set up a successful electrical company before focussing on the renewable sector with TGE Group.

David Young OBE

Operations Director

Within 12 months of leading the Group’s operations department, David developed our installation and logistical functions to deliver the 900% increase in business over the period. He has also created our Monitoring and Maintenance department and made our new Green Energy Management programme a reality.

David joined us at the beginning of 2011 with a distinguished record of transforming organisational performance in both the public and private sectors. Having been a commanding officer in the Army and a director of a small training company, and as a Fellow of the CIPD, David values the importance of building productive teams and delivering results through effective people engagement. He has harnessed his enthusiasm for green technology and energy saving to build his own low carbon home. With an engineering degree from Durham University and an MBA from Cranfield University, together with substantial project management experience, David is looking forward to driving efficiencies throughout our key delivery processes and the continual improvement of our customer service.

Matthew Evans

Matthew Evans

Technical Director

Matthew joined TGE Group as Technical Director of our heat division in June 2012. His role sees him work the sales and design areas of our renewable heat projects, as well tracking new market innovations and designing our own bespoke plant and energy storage systems.

Matthew has over 10 years’ experience in the HVAC industry and has earned an enviable reputation for his contribution to renewable heating and cooling systems, including ground and air source heat pumps, solar thermal, under-floor and panel heating. His expertise ranges from small domestic to large commercial, industrial and multi-domestic applications. Previously Matthew was the Managing Director of Azure Natural Energy Systems for 6 years, where he project managed the design and installation of the UK’s first communal heating system on air source heat pumps.
